Did I miss something?

First it doesnt let me chose to start slow (wrong choice, did I miss the memo?), then it instructs me to do things that dont work ("move finger in close circles", which does not work at all, as I seem to need to to move around the pivot point).
Sadly I just got frustrated and gave up.
Maybe its just trying to be cute and look smart, but ends up just being annoying and unplayable.
